The majority of scholarships offered through the competition (with the exception of Tift, which is only $1000) will replace any merit grants already issued. A panel of 3-4 current supervisors ask about 10 questions total. Mercer's admissions in general is based upon statistics rather than extracurriculars, essays, etc. One can see that Mercer invited a large number of students from this point on.
